Sports Day 2026 venue. [mr thomas email]

 Sports Day 2026 venue.

The Sports Day 2026 must be held at Bukit Jalil National Stadium once again next year. Sports Days at Panasonic Stadium should remain a thing of the past.

The Bukit Jalil National Stadium is nearer and easily accessible by public transport. I can go to the stadium as my house is just a short train ride away. I do not need to either hitch a ride with my mum's car or inconveniently head to the stadium at inconvenient times.

The school booked the stadium this year in order to take advantage of the free booking slots offered by the Ministry of Youth and Sports in order to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the stadium complex. The big problem is that the free booking period ends in September this year. This may create an issue.

The rental costs for a Sports Day at Bukit Jalil will be very expensive. Therefore, when the free booking period has ended, it may become impetus for Nobel to move the Sports Day back to Panasonic Stadium Shah  Alam, which is very inaccessible in my opinion.

Why is it inaccessible? There is no public transportation there, and at the same time, I would need to go by car. Although I dont drive or hold a driver's license, I understand that owning a car would involve exponential costs and logistics. It is very difficult to find parking when driving. Then, there is the issue weather elements, petrol and toll fees.

Bukit Jalil is a location where all concerns are addressed. The LRT station is next to the stadium. There is a covered walkway and it is more spacious. Furthermore, the stadium roof is big enough to protect spectators on Sports Day. Hence, Bukit Jalil should be the better choice as opposed to the Panasonic Stadium.

I  can understand also that some people may have concerns regarding the banner design. Many have understood that Ms Sha had told me  I cannot bring my banner or flags to the stadium due to the stadium's policy set at Bukit Jalil.

Ms Sha had told me Nobel signed a contract with the stadium authorities regarding this and that the school may not be allowed to book Bukit Jalil Stadium again in the future if those conditions were breached, that is of what spectators  can bring.

Panasonic Stadium does not have such a policy. However, I feel that Panasonic Stadium is too inconvenient and far. So as such, I am willing to make a small sacrifice in my banner designs.

If the concern is that the large banner size may impede security and safety, we can shrink the banner and reduce the props. We can bring small flags instead. We can reduce the size of the  banner. It will be ridiculous if the stadium authorities told me not to bring in a banner the size of a phone into the stadium.

Ms Sha was indeed right because even if I did manage to bring my banner, there is no space for me to hang my banner unlike at Panasonic Stadium. To make matters worse, there's a large monsoon drain in the center of the stadium that separates the stands from the field. Panasonic Stadium doesn't have such a feature. The stands at Panasonic do not have a large drain. They open up directly to the pitch. Even if we brought the stuff, the distance from the stands to the pitch is so far till the runners cannot see the banner. This is made  even worse by a tall fence  that is located next to the drain, thus blocking visibility.

Even though the layout disadvantages my banner, Bukit Jalil is still the best venue to hold Sports Day. The only uncertainty is about the cost of booking and renting the stadium once the free booking period is over.

Mind you, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Hannah Yeoh, was present to officiate Sports Day.

If Nobel chooses to hold Sports Day at Bukit Jalil, this will be good and we can bring small banners instead and small flags. We will restore the original circumstance if Nobel holds Sports Day 2026 at Panasonic Stadium.

But the biggest issue for this would not be the flags and banners. The biggest issue is the runners.
