The 1 year anniversary of the 20th Anniversary Sports Day on 2nd July 2024

 The 1 year anniversary of the 20th Anniversary Sports Day on 2nd July 2024

Lau Wei Yiang
Tomorrow, 2nd July 2025, marks a year since the 20th Anniversary Sports Day which Bullseye performed poorly, and that record was made worse during Unleash-Sports Day 2025 on 28th February 2025. The loss of Bullseye resulted in many nonsenses, and despite trying to revive Bullseye with Chee Fooi Foon, the management ultimately wrangled the Sports Day with a series of obstacles to prevent  Bullseye  from winning.

I want to make a clarification on why last year, during the 20th Anniversary Sports Day, did I not give the same effort as in 2024. Firstly, I was busy writing a book of my life in Nobel for the 20th Anniversary. Secondly, I was involved in my marathon practices for the Twincity Marathon, requiring me to skip Founder's Run to win the 42km race; but the biggest pressure of them all was my mum and Ms Bee Yong who told me to step back as much as possible from the Sports Day. Hence, in 2024, I decided that since a victory of Bullseye in 2024 would be the same as 2023, the 2023 victory should give the Bullseye members added enthusiasm to win in 2024, since they had wrestled the Founder's Run in 2024, too, as the momentum from 2023 had not died out.

Winning the 2023 Sports Day was unprecedented as it turned the originally planned four year victory streak into a five year victory streak from 2019 to 2023, and that five year streak confirmed the 2020, 2021, 2022 victories which were informally commemorated prior to then, making it Bullseye's longest ever victory streak, surpassing that of the 2014, 2015, 2016 victories. It was unprecedented in the history of Nobel International School. Winning the 20th Anniversary Sports Day would also make a repeat of that streak, as it is lengthening the rule and the same reasons to win in 2023 also applied to 2024, as I had prepared an FAQ list for 2023 on why should Bullseye particularly win the 2023 Sports Day.

The only difference was that winning 2023 was crucial as it confirmed truly to us a five year victory streak. We ALMOST LOST, but praise the Lord, thanks to Chee Fooi Foon, we were saved. And thank the Lord, too, that we also used Chee Fooi Foon's name in 2024 and 2025, and Bullseye at one point in time led in the standings because CHEE FOOI FOON's name and letter was used to motivate the almost-demotivated Bullseye squad. Winning 2024 also is the same as 2023; an unprecedented year and lengthening the streak, but the main point is that it is not just the 20th Anniversary of Nobel International School; the intent of the 20th Anniversary Sports Day; but remember, it is the 10TH ANNIVERSARY OF BULLSEYE'S FIRST EVER VICTORY, THE VERY FIRST ONE THAT STARTED IT ALL. WE WANT THE 20TH ANNIVERSARY SPORTS DAY TO ALSO BE A SHARED CELEBRATION OF BULLSEYE'S FIRST EVER VICTORY IN 2014, AS WE WANT TO EXTEND OUR SPECIAL THANKS TO EVERYONE; EVERYONE WHO HAD EVER WALKED THE HALLS OF NOBEL, AND CONTRIBUTED TO BULLSEYE'S LASTING VICTORY LEGACY.

Hence, due to pressure from Ms Bee Yong and my mum, I decided to step back and let the existing students tackle by themselves and only race to the scene if Bullseye dipped down. That was what happened in 2020, when Ashwin Jeyabalan pressured me to step aside when he got concerned that the Bullseye members will scold me for getting involved by supporting them. I stepped aside, and entered the battlefield in 2020 when Bullseye was downed in the  Nobel Cup 2019, and we succeeded. Although Bullseye was leading, I sensed something was not right, and showed up for the 20th Anniversary Sports Day. Our team were segregated from the Bullseye members. I wanted to do the same before it happened, but on second thought, voilla, we prevailed and pushed Bullseye back up from third place to first in 2024; there was a judging  event score that had to be removed in order to see the actions, and the judging events were used to block Bullseye's victory as what the management planned.

2023  was the basic frame structure of a house. 2024 was the facade. The former is needed to support the latter; but there is no need for the latter to achieve the former.

Too much time had been lost. Too much effort had been wasted. 2 years had been sacrificed; blood should no more be shed and tears should no longer flow. Enough  is enough.

Hoping for a Bullseye victory in the 2026 Sports Day. We have 6 months till the preparation begins.

2023 = Bullseye
2024 = Touchdown
2025 = Slamdunk
2026 = Bullseye.

2026 is the last of 3 attempts to commemorate the first victory streak of 2014, 2015, 2016. 2024 and 2025 were Bullseye victories robbed away from us. And it's all because...........

2nd July 2024 was the day of Bullseye's sudden downfall. It must NEVER be allowed to happen again! It was HORRIBLE!

Hamba!

Unlike all of previous Bullseye losses, this one happened so suddenly and quickly without warning. It was a disaster for Bullseye the likes of which were never seen before. It was a very big disaster!

Everyone was so excited. 2024 was to be the crown jewel of the 2019-2023 Sports Day victory streak.

2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024.

We wanted to use the 20th Anniversary Sports Day as an anniversary celebration for Bullseye. Remember: 2024 is not only the 20th Anniversary of Nobel International School, but the 10th Anniversary of Bullseye's first ever Sports Day victory. As it was also a decade since the first Sports Day victory, we want to honor and to remember all the Bullseye people who made Bullseye so successful. We wanted to have a grand party to complete 10 years.

I remember the very first victory. I was sitting in the front next to Wei Ming and Emily Liew and all the Bullseye people from Year 10 and 11. I remember the very first time we ran round the field. I remember the amazing events. I remember the excitement, the joy, the passion, emotion and the notion surrounding the very first victory of Bullseye. The very first one. I thought that it would be just the one and only victory in my entire life in Nobel.

Until I got the idea that we must wrest Nobel Cup. I proposed this to Caleb Chuang and we managed to convince a bunch of uninterested, foolish and silly folks who thought that was crazy. We managed to convince them not to only just win Nobel Cup 2014, but the 2015 Sports Day and Nobel Cup, and the 2016 Sports Day. The loss in 2017 and 2018 helped to propel Bullseye further and go beyond the limit. We were the most famous folks ever in Nobel International School.

We want to not only use the 20th Anniversary Sports Day as a platform to celebrate the school. We also wanted to use the Sports Day to pay tribute and celebrate every Bullseye member who came out of their comfort zone despite our differences, and to honor them, to thank our seniors, and to thank everyone in Bullseye for their hard earned effort and for believing in making Bullseye the BEST HOUSE EVER!

Unfortunately, Touchdown and the evil pirates robbed the jewel in the crown of the victories. The anniversary celebration was a no show. We lost, and the whole party was ruined by them.

No Sports house in the history of Nobel saw a change in the result on Sports Day. 2017 was the closest we have gotten to changing the score. The folks from Touchdown were very smart. They were 3rd place in the standings. The initial athletics events cause Touchdown to rise above all, followed by Slamdunk, Bullseye and Homerun. Fortunately, we managed to overtake Touchdown and Slamdunk and win all athletics competitions until the management BLOCKED the victory with judging results, hence replicating the initial placement before we reclaimed the lead.

This year, in 2025, we managed to reclaim the lead. We managed to retrieve and reclaim the lead after starting last in the Cheer Competition. Until we were blocked out of the rehearsal and Bullseye's lead vanished. The Chee Fooi Foon letter helped to boost the standings of Bullseye.

We lost again, but hopefully, we can reclaim the trophy in 2026; sooner than later. This is the last chance to celebrate a victory that occurred 10 years ago; the 2016 Sports Day. That Sports Day was legendary, being led by Sabrina Qistina, an all rounded girl!
