How many Nobelians can vote in the 2028 election?

How many Nobelians can vote in the 2028 election?

Lau Wei Yiang
Some folks are pushing for the restoration of state elections with general elections as it was prior to 2020. The Six State Election series, which last happened on 12th August 2023, will take place in November 2028.

Because an election date is so important, there will be a cut off date in which people who have obtained the age of 18 can be able to vote. This means that people who have turned 18 might be unable to vote in the election.

In the 2022 general election, individuals born in August 2004 and before can vote in the polls. Likewise, for the 2023 state elections, those born in May 2005 and before can vote. Note that the cut off date for the election is 3 months before polling day, now that new voters are registered upon turning 18.

The next general election, taking into account our friends in Nobel, will be held in 2027 or 2028. In this general election, people born in November 2009 and before will be able to vote if the general election is held at its latest possible date of February 2028.

There are a few great people in Nobel born in 2009, such as Alysa Woon Zhi Ying (April 2009), Caleigh Chan Li Ern (January 2009), Joanna Lee Ming Yee (September 2009), Aiden Yeoh Lih Wei (February 2009), Josiah Tsen (September 2009), Azalea Wong Jingyi (September 2009), Ong Zi Xin, Lee Sze Shuen (August 2009) and many more who deserve to vote. Those born after November 2009, such as Teh Szi Wei (June 2010), Wong Pey Yi, Joanna Crystal Vijaya, Ariel Chay, Zoe Siah, Adora Yap, or Isane  Yap will need to wait until the 2032 General Election in order to vote. That  election is  forecast  for May 2032, based on the current timing, subject to change. Students in Nobel currently in the Junior and Senior School, as well as Year 6 and Year 5 today, can vote in the 2032 election.

But if the Selangor state election is held in November 2028, ahead of the current February 2028 election deadline, this pushes the deadline to August 2010 babies which can be eligible to vote after having skipped the February 2028 election deadline. People like Teh Szi Wei (June 2010) and Adora Yap (May 2010) can now vote in the elections. It will make a big difference.

Many people in Nobel, despite not voting, are interested to participate in the election. While it is good for some people to have the election delayed so that more people can participate, some people are more affected than others.
