Haze in Malaysia
On 19th July 2025, haze started enveloping Malaysia. The haze has consistently caused a lot of problems. I had to stop running my long run halfway close to 30km because of the haze. I want to do 42km but can't complete it.
The haze is caused by forest fires from Indonesia and the haze is being blown to Malaysia because of prevailing winds from the Indian Ocean.
The school will close if the air pollution index increases to an API reading of 200, which is considered "very unhealthy". But unlike the past, lessons will continue via online learning just like how it was during the MCO. The current API for Petaling Jaya is 79.
Thanks for the update.
Last time, in 2015, which was the final time I experienced haze as a student of Nobel, and also in 2019, there were no online classes due to haze.
In 2015, we students were provided with homework which our teachers gave us via the Parent's Portal. We had to complete the work and hand it in to our teachers when school reopens. Ms Joyce, for English, gave us worksheets and I was the only one who did it. The entire class did not do it as they were unaware of it, and Ms Joyce had to go to the staffroom and print all the worksheets and give it to us to do it. Then, she marked my work, and told me, "Wei Yiang, don't tell the answers." 😂😂😂😂😂😂
