2019 Nobel Cup

The 2019 Nobel Cup was the seventh edition of the Nobel Cup, held  on 11th November 2019.  The  tournament was won by Slamdunk. It is Slamdunk's first ever Nobel Cup victory, and the first victory of Slamdunk in any sports event in Nobel International School.

The 2019 Nobel Cup was the first Nobel Cup to take place since Bullseye's 2019 Sports Day victory on the 22nd March 2019, and was a key test of the Bullseye coalition's hold post-2019 Sports Day. The 2019 Nobel Cup was  the final Nobel Cup to be presided over by  Mr Narish as the Sports Coordinator, as he himself would resign from Nobel in September 2020.

The 2019 Nobel  Cup took place at three different venues, with the futsal and basketball at iM4U Sentral, the badminton matches at Forum 19 and the chess  and  netball at Nobel International School. This is  the last Nobel Cup to be held before the Covid 19 pandemic. The next Nobel Cup will take place in 2022.

Background

Bullseye managed to recover from a devastating  648-649 loss in 2017 by winning the 2019 Sports Day. Prior to 2017, Bullseye managed  to win the 2014, 2015 and 2016 Sports Days, as well as the 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2018 Nobel Cups. As the defending champion of the 2018 Nobel Cup, Bullseye had to face increasing challenges for the future and to defend against up and coming houses.

The victory of Bullseye in 2019 resulted in continued success for Bullseye, but  however, the success of Bullseye was challenged by other houses.

2020 House Captain Election

Ahead of the 2020 House Captain Election, Wei Yiang was informed by Ashwin not to take  too much credit for the Sports Day victories because it would  be seen as overriding the  other house captains' moments, and also that for most Bullseye members, they might view his action as more of a  malicious intent than not. In response, Wei  Yiang downgraded strategizing and communication for the upcoming 2019 Nobel Cup and 2020 Sports Day. Ashwin was asking Wei Yiang  why he was attached  to Bullseye after he graduated from Nobel.

The 2020 House Captain Election took place on 30th August 2019. As Chia Zheng, Ashwin and Alyssa Kok were graduating from Nobel, a new captain with similar calibre was to be elected. For the 2020 House Captain Election, the main focus was on trying to retain the  2019 victory.

The  candidates for the election were Ashley Cheah, Zi Sheng, Lee  Kai Yang, Zidez Raja, Areeya Amali and  Elissa Carmen. Ashley and Zi Sheng were elected as the  respective captains.

Prediction for the 2019 Nobel Cup

A day after the 2019 Sports Day, on 23rd March 2019, Wei Yiang released  a timeline announcing the predicted dates for  Sports 2020. The Nobel Cup, at  the time unplanned, was predicted  for 18th November 2019; the House Captain Election on 19th August 2019, the Founder's Run for 14th February 2020 and  the Sports Day for 27th March 2020.

On 15th August 2019, Wei  Yiang released a  prediction for the 2019 Nobel Cup, showing the results which  indicated a 2019 Slamdunk victory in the tournament. He, however, refrained from warning the Bullseye members out of  concern and out of respect of Ashwin's comment.  Wei  Yiang eventually showed the  predictions to Ashley Cheah  during the 2019 Nobelfest  on 2nd November 2019.  At the same time, the dates  of Sports Day were revised from the 23rd March 2019 prediction to be the 4th April 2020, and the Founder's Run was revised  to Friday, 21st February 2020.

On 17th August 2019, Wei Yiang announced the  Bullseye National Conventions to  be  predicted as 13th January 2020,  10th February 2020, 24th February 2020, 9th March 2020 and 23rd March 2020.

On 11th September 2019, the Sports Day was revised  to 27th March 2020 under Wei Yiang's predictions.

On 15th October 2019, a new set of predictions was made for the Sports Day, showing Homerun as the winner of Sports  Day 2020.

On 28th October 2019, Wei Yiang predicted 10th January 2020 as  the date of the launch of Sports Day  2020 by Mr Narish.

On 8th November 2019, when Nobel's students were visiting Sunway University for the Ausmat  workshop, while meeting Wei Yiang outside the Sunway Campus Library, Wei Yiang accidentally dropped a piece of paper containing the correct dates for the Sports Day 2020 calendar.

On 15th November 2019, the Founder's  Run prediction was re-instated to the original timeline of 14th February 2020. Wei Yiang mentioned that "this was to coincide with Chinese New Year and Valentine's Day. Gong Xi Fa Cai!" This was further confirmed  on 24th November  2019 with the  text on his email; "Founder's Run confirmed to be held on 14TH FEBRUARY, 2020."

On 5th December 2019, Nobel  International School officially released  the 2020 Academic Calendar. On the calendar, the  date for Founder's  Run and Sports Day matched the predicted  dates of  14th February 2020 and 27th March 2020.  When informed about the dates, Wei Yiang was surprised that the predictions were correct. The correct and  accurate predictions of the events resulted in grave surprise, shock and unprecedented emotion.

Aside  from the prediction of the dates, a cryptic prediction was made; "Slamdunk to win Nobel Cup, Bullseye to win Sports Day", which remained unchanged from the start of the predictions in August 2019. Bullseye successfully won the Founder's Run 2020, resulting in a win in the overall score for 2020 at the  cancellation of Sports Day 2020 due to the  Covid 19 pandemic. The  predictions of other associated events, such as Pre Sports Events  and Sports  Day  Rehearsal, were made based on the inuition and occurrance of past events as per the calendar from previous years.

2019 Nobel Cup Tournament

Bullseye failed to win the Nobel Cup tournament on 11th November 2019, resulting in Bullseye failing to  win a third  consecutive Nobel Cup for the second time, after the 2016 Nobel Cup. At the start of the Nobel Cup, Bullseye managed to do well in the  basketball and  futsal tournaments, winning all its  games  in futsal and basketball. However, Bullseye failed to win in the badminton,  netball and chess competitions. This is the first time where Bullseye won all its matches but failed to secure enough points to win the trophy.

The announcement of the Nobel Cup results were made by Mr Narish on the last day of school, 14th November 2019.

Goals  of the 2019 Nobel Cup
