Update on traffic problems arising from Nobel International School, 15/2/2023

UPDATE ON TRAFFIC PROBLEMS ARISING FROM NOBEL INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL
MBPJ Councilor, Cik Qura together with officers from MBPJ Enforcement and Engineering and also representative from DJROA have met with the Management of Nobel International School (Nobel) on Monday, 13 February 2023 to discuss the traffic congestions arising from the School especially during the dismissal hours.
Cik Qura has informed Nobel that the ADUN (YB Jamaliah) and MBPJ have received complaints from the residents about the traffic congestion since Nobel started its operation. Nobel had attempted to pass the blame on parents and transporters who have not heeded to the Traffic Management Plan. However this excuse was shot down by the Councillor.
MBPJ has requested Nobel to engage a Traffic Consultant to provide a solution to the traffic problems. DJROA has requested Nobel to propose a short term and long term solution to the traffic problems.
For the short term solution, DJROA has suggested to Nobel to allow cars to exit through the basement carparks of the school which is currently limited to cars picking the pre-school children only. If access is also granted to cars for picking the primary and secondary students, it will expedite the movement of cars hence relieving the queue along Jalan SS22/41 and 43.
For the long-term solution, DJROA has proposed to Nobel to employ a Traffic Consultant and prepare a plan for submission to MBPJ for a possible exit ramp onto LDP from the school.
In the meantime DJROA hopes that the residents will be patient while the problems are being addressed by Nobel. DJROA will continue to monitor the traffic problem and will provide constructive suggestions to Nobel and MBPJ in alleviating the traffic problems.

Thanks for the update, and appreciate DJROAs involvement.
An immediate step can be Nobel sparing one or more staff to be on the kerbs to observe then intervene to counsel drivers.
As the road conditions are messy due to errant Nobel drivers, hopefully school management are mindful to play an active role to reduce the risk of accidents and pedestrian injury (or worse), and nuisance. After all, they should be aware that all this can adversely affect their brand image and value.

Some govt dept messed up by granting the license for Nobel to operate in the old KDU location, without proper traffic flow plans and impact study to the neighbourhood.

It's good that there's dialogue between all parties concerned. Is there a time line given for this proposed improvement in our residential areas?

I think the school can’t be entirely put to blame because wouldn’t they have submitted a traffic proposal before approval to operate was granted by MBPJ?

Ya.. sometimes it is the problem created by the transporters or parents who don't adhere to the instructions and everyone want to rush in.. then they start jumping queue.. just like other primary schools.. initially they part the left lane, later comes 2nd lane then jam up the whole road.. From Yuk Chai can see this

Short term solution isn’t very conducive! The turning out to LDP is a single lane. Imagine the roadblock upcoming, as it already is a mess now.
