[ARCHIVE] Founder's Run 2025 Statement.

 Today, 14th March 2025, is the start of 29 days of competition. We are kicking off the 10th Annual Founder's Run.

Writing this as a three-time champion of Founder's Run (2017, 2018, 2019), as well as the 10th place winner of the Twincity Marathon 2024's 42.195km category, I would like to wish everyone the very best for the Founder's Run. While Nobellians are gearing up for the Founder's Run, we are gearing up on our side for the ultimate race of the year; the Kuala Lumpur Standard Chartered Marathon (KLSCM). 

The Founder's Run and the KLSCM are two very different ball games. While the Founder's Run is a 5km race around a loop in Taman Botani Negara Shah Alam, the KLSCM involves the closure of multiple roads, trails and highways to provide a safe marathon course over 26.2 miles of asphalt. The marathon distance is recognized by World Athletics and the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races, and has a championship, the Abbott World Marathon Majors, which is the English Premier League or Thomas Cup for marathons.

This year, we are marking the tenth edition of a legacy that begun in 2016. As 2026 marks the 10th anniversary of the Founder's Run, we want to remember the perseverance, determination, grit and solidarity of the runners of the Founder's Run. We want to recognize and commemorate the spirit and dedication of contributing to the Fungates Superflow Foundation. Running is an easy sport and it can be done anywhere with just a pair of shoes and without the need for equipment or facilities. 

The Founder's Run pays tribute to Ms Clarine Chun, the Founding Director and founder of Nobel International School. It is with great enthusiasm and of course, confidence that I convey this proposal to the school. Since we are coming to mark the 10th anniversary of the Founder's Run next year, as well as the 10th edition of the Founder's Run in 29 days, it will be great to have Auntie Clarine sign up for a full marathon race. I believe that it is wonderful to have Auntie Clarine do so and I believe that she should do so, as it will mark the true meaning of the Founder's Run and encourage the Fungates team to scout for new sources of revenue to help the needy. Auntie Clarine completing a 42km race will unleash the true meaning of the Founder's Run, as the Founder of Nobel International School would be a role model, both in Character Transformation as well as running, and it will inspire people to push their limits and demonstrate the core values of Nobel International School. And it will be great that to boost confidence, maybe you, Mr Meshach, as well as Mr Lew, Ms Praveen, Ms Ingel, Ms Colleen, Mr Loh, Mr Chan and Ms Jean would be able to sign up for the same marathon as Auntie Clarine to boost confidence. 

Nobel International School led an expedition of Year 10 and 11 students in November and December 2013 to scale Mount Kinabalu, the highest mountain in Malaysia. The management team accompanying Auntie Clarine to finish the 42km marathon would be truly a historic feat to mark the 10th edition and 10th anniversary of the Founder's Run, and hopefully, it can be considered and discussed. The team can sign up for KLSCM if you want some confidence, as I am planning to take part soon. 

We wish all the runners of the Founder's Run the very best as they clock their mileage in the Virtual Run and work towards improving their fitness for the physical run.
