Endorsement letter for Bullseye

The Bullseye victory for 2023 is confirmed!

2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023!

Bullseye becomes the first Sports House in Nobel International School's history to win a total of five victory years. It is the first time a winning streak crossed five years, or half a decade. 2018 was the last time another house won the Sports Day (Touchdown). Homerun and Slamdunk had not won the Sports Day in the last 10 years, but however, Homerun was the champion house of Nobel Cup 2013, and Slamdunk the champion of Nobel Cup 2019. Touchdown was the champion house of Sports Day in 2013, 2017 and 2018.

This is not a first time a victory streak is new to Nobel, but it is one of two victory streaks to take place in within 10 years. Bullseye was also the winner of the 2014, 2015 and 2016 Sports Days, which resulted in a victory streak of three years. There was an attempt to win the fourth victory year of 2017, but however, it was foiled by Touchdown scoring one point over Bullseye.

While Sean Mark and his team did not succeed in persuing the victory of 2017 to make a fourth year, Lau Wei Yiang, who was from the same batch as Sean Mark, started the initiative to win not only the long lost dream of four years, but an unprecedented fifth year as well for 2023. As 2017 and 2023 have the same calendar format, indirectly, Wei Yiang's initiative had helped Bullseye to clinch the year 2017, too, since both 2017 and 2023 begin on a Sunday, 1st January, and end on Sunday, 31st December.

The victory is a long-awaited dream for the people of Bullseye and their seniors coming before that. Thank you to everyone who had helped made Bullseye's 2023 win possible, as it confirms the 2020, 2021 and 2022 victories in just one game. Thank you, Principal Chee Fooi Foon of SJKC Shin Cheng (Harcroft), for your support and encouragement which helped motivate the athletes while running.

Hail to Bullseye!

Win all competitions but lose the Cup

It is possible for a sports house to win all matches but lose the Nobel Cup altogether, as the number of points pooled from each match will determine the winner of Nobel Cup.

Take for example, scores from a futsal match:

In the competition, Bullseye has won all of their games against their opponents, but however, the combined larger scores earned by Touchdown, Homerun and Slamdunk, despite winning only one match each, were able to pool the largest number of points. This means that it is possible for a team to lose all the games but win the Nobel Cup, and vice versa. Hence, despite Bullseye having the highest number of games won, they still lost the Nobel Cup with the least points.

This is the result of the round-robin formatting used for Nobel Cup.

Before 2016, the Nobel Cup games for basketball, futsal, netball and badminton use an elimination format, which allowed Bullseye to easily win the Nobel Cups in 2014 and 2015.

In 2019, Bullseye won half of the tournaments, but still lost Nobel Cup to Slamdunk thanks to the high number of points gained by Slamdunk in netball and chess.

Nobel Cup Competition Format

The Nobel Cup is a round-robin tournament played among Bullseye, Touchdown, Homerun and Slamdunk. We have a total of six matches in each round robin tournament for each category:

1) Bullseye v. Touchdown

2) Homerun v. Slamdunk

3) Bullseye v. Slamdunk

4) Touchdown v. Homerun

5) Bullseye v. Homerun

6) Touchdown v. Slamdunk

There are 2 categories in the Nobel Cup, namely Key Stage 3 (Year 7 and 8) and Key Stage 4 (Year 9 and 10) for the purposes of the competition.

The number of matches for the Nobel Cup will be as follows:

Basketball - 12 matches, 6 for each level (20 minutes' game, with half time at 10 minutes)

Captain Ball - 12 matches, 6 for each level (10 minutes' game, with half time at 5 minutes)

Futsal - 12 matches, 6 for each level (15 minutes' game, with half time at 7 minutes)

For Badminton and Table Tennis, there will be 12 matches for each level, with 6 per gender (Male and Female). This means a total of 60 singles matches, 60 doubles matches and 60 mixed matches.

For the Chess Competition, a total of five points will be awarded to the winner of the chess competition. There will be 3 entries for each year level per house.

NOBEL CUP 2023 DATE

The Nobel Cup 2023 date for this year is scheduled for 10TH NOVEMBER 2023

A Bullseye victory in the Nobel Cup will result in the fourth such period the same sports house wins all the major competitions in Nobel International School, namely Nobel Cup, Founder's Run and Sports Day.

The previous such occasions this happened was in 2014, 2015 and 2022. All the competitions, namely Nobel Cup, Sports Day and Founder's Run (the run started in 2016), were won by Bullseye.

Since 2014, Bullseye has either won either one of the three competitions to date without fail.

NOBEL INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL'S SPORTS DAY 2023 DATE

We are pleased to inform you that the Nobel International School Sports Day 2023 will be officially held on 20TH NOVEMBER 2023.

After almost five years of waiting, the Sports Day will kick off following three years of COVID-19 - induced cancellation. Bullseye will return as the defending champions of Sports Day and the overall tally, having won the 2019 Sports Day on 22nd March 2019.

The Sports Day, being held on 20th November, will mark close to 56 months since the 2019 Sports Day which Bullseye won. It also commemorates a year since the 15th Malaysian General Election on 19th November 2022 which saw Anwar Ibrahim elected as Prime Minister, and two years since the 2021 Malacca state election held on that same date. At the same time, it marks three months since the birthday of Chee Fooi Foon, principal of SJKC Shin Cheng (Harcroft), on 19th August and close to five months since Hing Fook Soon's birthday on 23rd June, which is the original date for Sports Day 2023 in which a potential Bullseye victory will celebrate his birthday.

A Bullseye victory on 20th November 2023 will mark a total of five Bullseye victory years, namely 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023. When this happens, it will create an unprecedented record never before achieved in Nobel International School. This means that the Bullseye victory period will be the longest-ever victory record achieved in Nobel's 20-year history. No individual, club, society or student leadership body or anyone in Nobel had achieved such a project of magnifying proportion. It would also be the largest project or initiative ever attempted in Nobel International School and one that was planned by an alumni.

Should Bullseye also win the 2023 Sports Day, the year 2023 will mark the fourth year in Nobel's history in which a sports house won the three major competitions of Nobel Cup, Founder's Run and Sports Day. And for the first time ever, an entire Bullseye generation of students who were in Nobel's Junior and Senior School in 2019, never lost a Sports Day.

The previous years in which such a phenomena where a sports house successfully won the three major competitions happened were 2022, 2015 and 2014. All of the feats were achieved by Bullseye.
